When you school your horse you are teaching him to move with a good outline and self-carriage but do you ever stop to think about your own way of going?
AT teaches the rider self-carriage, concentrating on the relationship between the head, neck and back. The way we use our bodies has a profound effect on our horse's way of going. If you are stiff, unbalanced and uncoordinated this will affect your horse. Your muscles may be carrying all kinds of excess tension of which you are unaware and this can give the horse conflicting messages. Consequently, he may be confused and not carry out your request successfully.
AT lessons help you become aware of your patterns of tension and teaches you how to overcome them enabling you to become more sensitive to your horse and able to communicate with him more effectively.
Benefits of AT lessons for riders:
What I offer:
In Alexander Technique lessons for horse riders I work to identify excess tension within the body and to release it so that the rider can achieve a balanced and relaxed position in which they can use their body to effectively influence the horse.
I offer individual lessons both on and off the horse and in addition I give talks to groups of horse riders. I can also design tailor-made group sessions to suit your requirements.
